Eastern Europe and Central Asia is one of two regions in the world where new HIV infections are still on the rise. It is estimated by the UNAIDS that the number of people living with HIV (PLHIV) was 35 million in 2013 around the world. Although effective preventive and treatment measures are known and used, they are not available in the region at the scale needed to effectively reverse the epidemic and achieve Millennium Development Goal 6.
UN on numerous occasions pointed out that spread and impact of HIV on individuals and communities around the world is inextricably linked with human rights. A lack of respect for human rights fuels the spread and exacerbates the impact of the disease, while at the same time HIV undermines progress in the realization of human rights.
The organizations that provide free legal aid people affected by HIV, under support of the UNDP, united in the Regional network for protection and promotion of their rights. There are organizations from 9 countries of the region (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan).
The Network, arising out of the project, supported by the UNDP, is looking for a specialist on strategic planning for determination of strategy of follow activity, priorities and specification of tasks and goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
Preliminary diagnostics of the Network activity
Carrying out the strategic planning sessions on-line, with all Network members participation.
Discussions coordination and moderation for:
- determining strong and week spots of the Network;
- determination and characterization of short-term and log-term goals of the Network;
- strategic of the achieving goals;
- creation of the Network members teamwork rules;
- characterization of rules of the Network members cooperation with other legal aid providers and service organizations;
- Pointing the rules of the Network members communication with representatives of the target grope, that ask for legal aid.
Analysis of sessions’ results and drafting recommendations.
Creating the strategic plan.
Competencies
The practical experience in the strategic analysis of the field and carriage of strategic planning sessions.
Experience of facilitation and moderation of discussions
Good understanding of human rights organizations activities
Excellent communication abilities
Advanced user of internet-communication tools
Advanced user of MS Office, Power Point, MS Outlook
Required Skills and Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree
Experience:
Two or more years of relevant experience in the field of strategic analyzing and planning;
Experience in work with HIV, human rights issues, network management is an advantage.
Language skills:
Fluency in Russian and English. Knowledge of more regional languages is a plus.
